Open/Close Menu Supporting Research at the University of Chicago Medicine Digestive Diseases Center

On Saturday, May 20 2017, the GI Research Foundation hosted the 56th Annual GI Research Foundation Ball at the Radisson Blu Aqua, Chicago. Proceeds from the evening benefit the University of Chicago Medicine Digestive Diseases Center.

WGN’s own Ben Bradley was the Master of Ceremonies for the evening which featured a beautiful sit down dinner in the Ballroom followed by an uproarious 40 minute performance by Emmy-award winning comedian and SNL alum, Dana Carvey.

The gala paid special tribute to Beatrice G. Crain and Sy and Nancy Taxman of who received the Kirsner Partners in Discovery Award for their ongoing generosity and commitment to the GI Research Foundation.

Co-chaired by Beatrice G. Crain and Yekaterina Chudnovsky, both of Chicago, nearly 550 guests joined philanthropic forces to raise nearly $1.5 million for the continued research support of many types of gastrointestinal conditions, from inflammatory bowel disease and liver disorders, to esophageal, pancreatic, and bile duct diseases and all forms of gastrointestinal cancers. U.S. News & World Report ranks The University of Chicago Medicine digestive disorders program among the best in the nation.
